Ursula’s PHace PHact # 4: Want Flawless & Durable? Get Airbrushed!

Tuesday, May 26th, 2009

By Ursula Augustine, Ursula’s About Phace

Model: Mrs. Wendy RosenHave you have ever wondered how celebrities got their makeup to look so flawlessly natural?  Wonder no more – Airbrush Makeup! Once the closely guarded secret of professional makeup artist in Hollywood, it is quickly becoming the makeup application of choice for women who want that “real skin” finish.

The precision application offered by Airbrush makeup has two major benefits:

  • Full Coverage, Sheer Texture: Airbrush finishes are opaque, yet thin in texture, giving you full coverage that is weightless.
  • Refined Finish: Because the 6-8 tear drops of foundation are sprayed onto the skin, from the Airbrush Spray Gun, the application closely resembles the way a camera reads textures – in pixels. The finish: Seamless! None of the trace marks that brushes and sponges can leave behind. The result is perfect looking skin achieved with a minimum of product, that lasts for a minimum of 18 hours!

Airbrush makeover shown includes; Airshadow, and Airblush!

Ursula’s PHace PHact # 3: Read my lips!

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

By Ursula Augustine, Ursula’s About Phace

Lispstick application by UrsulaThere are some folk (in the world) fortunate enough to have their makeup applied by a professional everyday… but for the rest of us, it’s every wo[man] for herself!

Spring/Summer 2009 – It’s all about the lips: They are shaded in fresh tones & are well defined. Well d.e.f.i.n.e.d is not code for re-invent the wheel, there’s  nothing worse than seeing lips that are lined well past their natural lip line. Or maybe there is: the ones [over] lined with a dark pencil and light to clear lip color:  major pout faux-pas!

For that polished, professional pout use a lip pencil of:

  • Nude /flesh tones for light shades of lip color.
  • Similar to matching tones for bolder (deeper) shades of lip color.

Ursula’s PHace PHact # 2 (of 101. million): Concealing Dark Under Eyes

Wednesday, April 15th, 2009

By Ursula Augustine, Ursula’s About Phace

Who needs them?…  I’ll answer that one for you: “nobody!”  The darkness is often caused by blood vessels leaking into the under eye tissue, drying and darkening overtime.

To Conceal or Not to Conceal?  Now, that is the question… and here is your answer: conceal the dark areas, only!

Concealers are cream neutralizers. Concealing where there is no darkness leaves the product sitting on top of your skin, because it has nothing to conceal, and you will be guilty on two (beauty) counts:
1. Reverse Raccoon Eye.
2. Trying to resuscitate the Knotts Landing look -  no offense Michelle Lee, or Donna Mills.

What color should I conceal with?

Fair to Light Complexions: Conceal under eyes before you apply foundation. Apply foundation around the concealer NOT over it. Your concealer should be 1/2 to 1 full shade lighter than your complexion.

For Women of Color: Concealers should match (evenly) the overall warmth of the complexion.

(UPP) Ursula’s PHace PHact # 1 (of 101 million): Don’t mush!

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

By Ursula Augustine, Ursula’s About Phace

You know how you ladies rub your lips together after you apply lipstick or gloss… That’s mushing! (Mushers are the same folks who rub their wrists together after you put on perfume, another big no-no.)

But I digress. Here is why you shouldn’t mush:

  • Mushing removes lipstick and gloss from your lips. Each mush is the equivalent of blotting your lip color off with tissue. 20 mushes – 20 tissues!
  • Mushing makes your lip stick and gloss smear and run outside of your lip line. And lipstick all over the grill is so not sexy, not to mention so not professional!

So remember, for clean, professional (and sexy) looking lips… Stop mushing
